Six run sixth leads PV past WW

marie@pvdemocrat.com — Pauls Valley scored six runs in the fifth to blow open the game and beat rival Wynnewood 11-2 in five innings.

Matt Perry picked up the win on the mound despite lasting only an inning. Perry stuck out two in the first but walked two in the second and left the game with the bases loaded on noone out aft Keegan Moore’s single.

Treston Willaims came in and got out of the inning without any damage and pitched into the fifth before being relieved by Eddie Johnson. Johnson came in and got the final out of the inning for as PV won for the nineth time this season.

Perry finished with two strikeouts and two base on balls. Williams had 4 strikeouts and a base on balls while Johnson finished with a ground out.

Ty Durbecq took the loss for the Savages desipte striking out 10 Panther batters. He gave up 11 runs, 5 earned, on 8 hits.

After a quite first inning, the Panthers got rolling in the second with three runs. David Flores walked and Noah Meave running for him stole second. He would take second on a passed ball and scored on Austin Foxworth’s single.

Foxworth would scored after a couple of passed balls. Caleb Jones would be hit with a pitche and after stealing second he would score after a couple of passed balls for a 3-0 lead.

PV would add two more in the third. Tanner Hamilton started the inning with a one-out double. He would move to third on Williams single Devin Baker was hit with a pitch to load the bases. David Flores singled scoring both Hamilton and Williams as PV took a 5-0 lead.

Wynnewood would get on the scoreboard in the third. Wanya Wright was hit with a pitch to strat the inning. He stole second and scored on an error cutting the PV lead to 5-1.

Odom would single to start the fourth for the Savages. Peters sacrifice bunt moved Odom to second and he would score as Hamon reached on an error.

The Panthers would explode for six runs in the fifth to blow open the game. Williams would single to start the inning. He would moved to second as Baker reached on an error. A base on balls to Flores loaded the bases.

Foxworth was hit with a pitch scoring Williams. Jones’ single scored Baker and Meave who was runing for Flores. Perry singled home Foxworth and Perry took second on the throw home.

With two outs, Hamilton singled scoring Jones and Perry for a 11-2 lead.

Williams would get two quick outs in the fifth but then walk Durbecq and give up a double to Odom. Johnson would come in and get Moore to ground out giving the Panthers the win.

Hamilton led the Panther offense with hit hits, nicluding a double. Williams would add two hits for the only other player with two hits.

Odom led the Savage offense with two hits, including a double.

Pauls Valley was coming off a loss to No. 3 Marlow out of Class 3A in the Sulphur Invitational Tournament finals on Saturday.

Marlow used a a 2 for 3 with 4 RBI night from Austin Forsyth to lead them to a 10-2 win.

The Marlow pitching held PV to five hits over five innings. O’Bryant, Foxworth, Flores, Hamilton and Willimas had the only hits for PV. Hamilton and Williams scored the only runs.

Pauls Valley used four different pitches in the game. Johnson gave up 7 runs 3 earned in an inning and two-thirds. Perry didn’t give up any runs in an inning and two-third. Sager gave up two runs, one earned in and inning and a third. Williams gave up a run in a third of an inning.

Pauls Valley next faces the No. 1 team in Class 4A Tuttle at the Tigers home field.
