The Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Center is seeking submissions for its third annual art show and contest celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month.
Any Oklahoma artist, along with current and former clients and their families, as well as staff, are invited to submit works for the show.
The purpose of the show is for artists and creative people to come together to “shine the light” to bring awareness to mental health issues.
Artists may submit works to be reviewed for inclusion in the show from now through Thursday, May 2 at any Lighthouse location.
Here in Pauls Valley the place to drop off submissions is 109 S. Willow.
Age groups are kids prekindergarten through the fifth grade, teens from sixth through 12th grades and adults 18 years old and up.
Categories include two dimensional art like a painting or drawings, three dimensional art with a sculpture or crafts, written with poetry or short stories and photography/digital art.
Artists will be notified if their art is chosen for the show.
Then the art will be displayed and winners announced at the opening reception of the show scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at the Pauls Valley Arts and Cultural Center.
The art will continue to be on display in the center through May 15
Artists will be notified of winning prior to reception but do not have to be present at the time to receive their prize.
