Two Pauls Valley High School students achieved state honors for their accomplishments on the high school’s academic team.

Seniors Dalton Vandever and Aaron Coffey were honored at the All State Academic Banquet held Saturday, April 1 at Redlands Community College at El Reno.

Vandever was awarded the title of All-State Academic team member and Aaron received honorable mention.

This placed both students among the top 72 seniors in the state who participate in academic bowl competitions. Class divisions were not a factor in the selection process.

Both seniors have been instrumental in the local high school academic team’s success over the past two years.

The team’s credits consist of a regional championship in 2004, an area championship in 2005 and two consecutive trips to the state games where the team placed fifth both years.

Vandever was accompanied by his mother, Cindi Dehart; stepfather, John Dehart; and academic coach Steve Jarman. Coffey was not able to attend the banquet, so Jarman accepted the award on his behalf.
