The nonprofit Makur Farms Equine Sanctuary at a farm near Elmore City now has a GoFundMe page online accepting donations to help with the care of horses taken in as a rescue. The goal is to raise $25,000.

The primary needs the sanctuary is hoping to meet through this campaign are for transportation, feed, veterinary care and shelter for the horses.

All tax deductible contributions will go to replace fencing at the area farm, add a new horse barn and loafing shed in a back pasture, replenish feed and supplement supplies and provide maintenance to a feed silo.

Leyla Kurgun and her husband Jim Majors oversee the operation a few miles outside of Elmore City.
