Free piles of compost and mulch are now available to the public at the Pauls Valley Recycling Center on South Walnut.
The materials for the compost mostly come from leaves and brush picked up off the streets of PV, while the mulch is a mix of chopped up tree limbs.
Anyone interested is responsible for hauling away the materials.
The 82nd annual Garvin County 4-H and FFA Invitational Junior Livestock Show is Feb. 25 to March 2 at the county fairgrounds in PV.
The hog show is on Tuesday, Feb. 25, while shows for cattle, goats and lambs are Thursday, Feb. 28. A premium sale begins at 1 p.m. March 2.
The nonprofit Makur Farms Equine Sanctuary at a farm near Elmore City now has a GoFundMe page online accepting donations to help with the care of horses taken in as a rescue.
The goal is to raise $25,000.
The primary needs the sanctuary is hoping to meet through this campaign are for transportation, feed, veterinary care and shelter for the horses.
A P.A.W.S. food pantry for dogs and cats is available at PV's animal shelter from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. The next one is Feb. 12.

The next sign up for a monthly spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats is at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1 at the PV Animal Shelter.
