Youth, livestock at center of show

Garvin County youth will again take center stage, or in this case the show arena, as an annual livestock event is right around the corner.

It's the 82nd annual Garvin County 4-H and FFA Invitational Junior Livestock Show scheduled from Feb. 25 through March 2.

The Garvin County Fairgrounds in Pauls Valley is again the setting for this traditional show coming in a few weeks. Here's the schedule of activities for the show:

Monday, Feb. 25

• Hogs arrive no later than 10 a.m.

• 11 a.m. – Weigh-in.

Tuesday, Feb. 26

• 8 a.m. – Gilt Show, followed by Barrow Show.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

Cattle, Goats and Lambs arrive

• 2 to 4 p.m. – Goat weigh-in.

• 2 to 5 p.m. – Cattle weigh-in.

• 4 to 6 p.m. – Lamb weigh-in.

Thursday, Feb. 28

• 8 a.m. – Cattle Show

• Goats and Lamb Shows follow, after short break to set up arena.

Friday, March 1

• 7 to 10 p.m. – Exhibitors Dance.

Saturday, March 2

• Noon – Free Barbecue Lunch.

• 1 p.m. – Premium Sale Begins.
