Though the next few days are forecast to be colder than what we’ve been experiencing lately, there’s no doubt the recent spring-like weather has been nice.

Spring usually means breaking out the grill from storage and enjoying the great outdoors. But the Burn Ban is still in effect and any outdoor grilling (except for gas grilling) is outlawed.

We need rain and we need it badly. That’s why the Pauls Valley Ministerial Alliance is still holding special prayer services for rain each Tuesday at noon at the PV Presbyterian Church. Anyone with a just a few minutes to spare during their lunch break can go to the church and pray for rain.

And while you’re praying, be sure to pray for our area firefighters who have been extremely busy fighting all of the fires over the last three months.

The Toy and Action Figure Museum has come up with a great idea for Valentine’s Day. Parents can drop off their kids (ages 5 and up) at the museum on Valentine’s night and enjoy an evening together while the museum entertains their children.

The special child care service will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m., just enough time to enjoy a dinner for two at one of our fine restaurants in Pauls Valley.

Children will be treated to refreshments, a movie and plenty of activities in the museum’s Building Block, Action City and Super Hero rooms.

If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity to enjoy and evening with your Valentine while having the assurance your kids are safe and sound, then call the museum at 238-6300 to make your reservation.

They request reservations be made so they can properly staff the museum for the two-and-a-half hours. Reservations will be taken up to 5 p.m. Valentine’s Day. The cost is $20 per child donation to the museum.

What could be better? Enjoying a night out with your sweetheart, providing a lot of fun for your kids and all the while you’re helping the Toy and Action Figure Museum.

I would let them take care of my seven children that night but I don’t think they would accept six cats and big, yellow lab dog.
