The action is nearly here as the Pauls Valley Rotary Club will present the 7th annual Thunder in the Valley bull riding and mutton bustin’ on Saturday night.

The event was postponed by a couple of weeks after a severe weather system passed through the Pauls Valley area on May 2.

That forced a delay of the local event, which is now set for a 5 p.m. start at the Pauls Valley Roundup Club Arena.

That’s when the ever popular mutton bustin’ gets underway.

“We know that the kids love this event, and we have set aside two hours for them,” officials said.

“If your child falls into the age and weight limits and they get registered to ride by 4:45 p.m., they will get to ride. Every child wins.”

The top 10 finishers will ride again later in the evening for the championship.

Then at 7 p.m. the Wild Horse Rodeo Production will have 40 of the toughest, meanest bulls around to face 40 riders.

There will also be the Little Miss Pauls Valley Rotary Princess contest for girls as a new winner will be crowned during the bull riding event.

Also scheduled is a wild calf dressing contest.
