It’s now known the tragic death of a 2-month-old Paoli boy was caused by a traumatic head injury.

Officials with the Oklahoma medical examiner’s office released that conclusion Thursday and the infant’s name, Brody Speerbrecher, who died earlier this week in Pauls Valley.

Deputies in the Garvin County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies have been working to learn more since his mother, Lisa Speerbrecher, made an emergency call Monday morning because the young boy wasn’t breathing.

Officials indicated both parents claimed they didn’t know what caused the baby to stop breathing.

After first aid procedures were conducted at the scene the baby was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of Pauls Valley General Hospital.

The infant was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m. Monday, according to deputies.

That same day an amount of marijuana was found in the family’s Paoli home and evidence the illegal drug was being distributed. The find came when deputies acquired a warrant to search the home.

After that time three other children living in the home were placed in Department of Human Services custody.

After the infant’s death he was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Oklahoma City, where an autopsy was performed.

The preliminary findings concluded a head injury caused the death.

Since early in the investigation Garvin County deputies have said they expect criminal charges to be filed in the case. As of Thursday no formal allegations had been filed.
