Music looks to again be a big part of setting the festive mood for an annual celebration by a Pauls Valley group.
That group, the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce, will hold its annual banquet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at the Bosa Community Center.
Contributing to the festivities is the musical entertainment of the Jonathan Nichol Trio.
The jazz band with saxophone, guitar and bass instruments is led by Nichol, who is a University of Oklahoma saxophone professor.
They will perform a wide range of jazz and popular music standards by artists such as Duke Ellington, Miles Davis and Richard Rodgers.
Although not required, those attending the banquet are asked to wear fanciful masks as part of the event's "Masquerade" theme.
The evening includes dinner, silent and live auctions and the announcements of who will be named this year's citizen and corporate citizen of the year.
Individual tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door. To purchase tickets or sponsor a table or for more information, visit www.paulsvalleychamber.com online or call 405-238-6491.
In other community news, PV's public library is set to host its next book lecture in a few days.
Ken Hada, a professor at East Central University in Ada, is the guest leading the discussion starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11.
With this one the lecture is on “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton.
The library has also resumed free classes on diet and gardening.
The next one is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. April 27, followed by 9 to 11 a.m. May 25 at the library.
A smaller version for kids is at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoons through May 9.
