The newly organized American Legion Post 87 in Pauls Valley is inviting veterans to a meeting scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13.
It will be at the Garvin County 911 Building in PV, 225 W. McClure. With the meeting on the second floor an elevator is available.
With a focus on revitalizing the new post, the mission of the American Legion is to support, maintain awareness and provide programs for veterans, national security and children.
Honorably discharged veterans in Pauls Valley, Wynnewood, Paoli and the surrounding area, who served during war time periods, are invited to attend the meeting.
Also coming this week the Pauls Valley Arts Council is sponsoring a fiber art show.
Quilts of all kinds are expected at three different downtown sites – the PV Arts and Cultural Center at Paul and Walnut, Stark Art Gallery on South Chickasaw and The Vault Gallery on Paul.
An opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 13, followed by all day come-and-go shows from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 14 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15.

• Garvin County Retired Educators Association will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at the PV Chamber of Commerce, 112 E. Paul.
State House Speaker Charles McCall is the featured speaker as the public is invited to attend.
