A couple of days have been scheduled early this week for anyone interested in auditioning for a part in a play coming to Pauls Valley later this summer.
Led by the PV Arts Council's return to live theater, auditions for “Dearly Departed” are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 24-25 at the PV Arts and Cultural Center at the corner of Paul and Walnut.
“Dearly Departed” is a comedy to the core as it takes place in the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt. There the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious.
The auditions are looking to fill these roles:
Bud Turpin – elderly man
Raynell – Bud’s wife
Ray-Bud – Bud and Raynell’s son
Lucille – Ray-Bud’s wife
Junior – Ray-Bud and Lucille’s son
Suzanne – Junior’s wife
Marguerite – Bud’s sister
Royce – Marguerite’s son
Delightful – Bud and Raynell’s only daughter
Veda – elderly woman
Norval – Veda’s husband
Nadine – young woman
Clyde – friend
Juanita – cousin by marriage
The Joy of Life Singers
The play itself, to be directed by Renee Mackey-Myler, is set for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24, and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Aug. 25
“We encourage anyone who enjoys theater to consider auditioning. If you are interested in being a part of the ACT team, whether it be in set design and building, costumes, sound and lighting, stage help or assisting during performances, contact Renee Mackey-Myler at firstname.lastname@example.org.”
