The 2008 Pauls Valley United Fund campaign is well on its way and thanks to a number of different fundraising events, and some generous corporate contributions, half of this year’s goal has been reached.

But with close to $35,000 yet needed, the United Fund is now asking local citizens to help push the campaign over the top by giving generously to the upcoming United Fund Community Bucket Drive.

“Our goal this year is $70,000 which will go to meet the needs of 31 different non-profit organizations including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Salvation Army, PV Animal Shelter, 4-H, Samaritans, Round Up Club, Good News Medical Clinic and PV Athletic Club,” explained PV United Fund Vice President Alison Humphrey.

“Because of the efforts of numerous volunteers and some concerned area companies, we have received right at half of our goal,” she said.

“But we still have half to go and in order to raise the rest of the money needed we are asking people to help these many worthwhile organizations out by giving generously during our community bucket drive.”

Humphrey said local residents may help out during the bucket drive in two different ways.

First of all, they can give their donations to costumed volunteers who will be out-and-about Halloween morning in downtown Pauls Valley with buckets in hand.

Secondly, they can contribute by dropping their change and extra cash in the tall, yellow United Fund contribution cans which will be located on the counter of various businesses around town throughout the month of November.

Those wishing to give additional donations towards the Pauls Valley United Fund may do so by dropping them off at Kristi Dobbins’ office located at 106 East McClure.

All gifts are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided upon request. Gifts may be designated for a specific United Fund organization if so desired.
