Dear Editor,

Whitebead School is considering through a bond issue to upgrade our bus fleet.

Currently our school district owns five buses. We have two buses that are nearly 20 years old, another bus is 15 years old, and the other two just below that in year of make.

School districts are encouraged to keep a school bus for about 10 years. All of the buses in our fleet are beyond that. The last purchase being 12 years ago.

Because school buses travel over unsmooth, rough rural roads the school buses take a beating.

The high cost of continued general maintenance on these aged buses depletes our transportation fund.

We feel that necessity to upgrade our current fleet so that we make it safer for transporting our students.

Please support our efforts to obtain newer buses for cost efficiency and safe student transportation.
