Dear Editor,

I have been a Boy Scout since I was in grade school and while I enjoyed learning life skills, the camaraderie of the troop, the camping and hiking trips; it was my ultimate goal to be an Eagle Scout.

To achieve Eagle status, you have to earn 21 different merit badges, hold leadership positions, camp out at least 24 nights and lastly, you have to propose, plan and carry out an Eagle Scout project.

My project consisted of replacing the rock walkways with concrete sidewalks at the Rose Garden in Wacker Park.

This not only makes it look better, but will help with the maintenance, and most importantly will make the Rose Garden accessible for more people to enjoy.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people that were instrumental in making this project a success.

They include L.A. Jacobson’s Concrete, Colley & Co. Inc., Duke Knight, Williamsburg Animal Clinic, T.H. Rogers Lumber, members of Rotary Club and Boy Scout Troop 73 along with the scout leaders.

It is businesses, individuals and organizations like these that make Pauls Valley a great place to live.
