Several Garvin County athletes were honored by the Oklahoma Coaches Association recently.

Pauls Valley guard Chesney Dudley was named a Class 4A All-Star by Class for the West Squad. She was coached by Jason Schroeder.

Stratford guard Abbi Phelps was named a Class 2A All-Star by Class for the West Squad. She was coached by Mark Savage.

Stratford’s Caleb Miller, Payton Wood and Brisyn Markovich were named Class 2A All-Stars by Class for the West Squad on the boys side. Miller, Wood and Markovich were coached by Ray Ardery.

Ty Wilmot of Maysville and Davy Amparano of Elmore City-Pernell were named to the 2021 Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.

There were two of 120 nominations from across the state of Oklahoma are part of the 48 members of the team. To qualify they had to score a minimum of 24 on the ACT.

Wilmot was coached by Gordon Queener and Amparano was coached by David Cornforth.

Last week the Region 5 Coaches Association named Pauls Valley Chasen Jolley as the Male Athlete of the Year.
