Facing a 14-point first half deficit, the Pauls Valley Panthers fought back with a solid second half rallying to defeat the Bridge Creek Bobcats 56-52 Tuesday in Bridge Creek.

The Bobcats couln’t miss in the first quarter, or at least it seemed that way.

Over the first eight minutes of the game, Bridge Creek was 8-of-10 from the floor, including 5-of-5 from two-point land, and added 3-of-4 from the line in opening up a 22-10 lead.

Midway through the second quarter the Bobcat lead grew to 14 points.

After a time-out by head coach Chris Caldwell, the Panthers started playing like they did in their 12 wins this season.

Seven straight points followed the time-out with four different Panthers scoring cutting the lead to seven.

Bridge Creek hit a late basket in the first half to go up by nine as they headed into the locker room for the half.

Bridge Creek opened the second half with a basket pushing the lead back to double digits.

A 16-4 Panther run ensued with freshman Caleb Livingston scoring five points and junior Matt Harding scoring four, including the final two points of the quarter that gave Pauls Valley their first lead of the game, 38-37.

The Cats regained the lead with a basket to start the fourth quarter. M. Harding had six points in a 10-3 run that gave the Panthers the lead for good.

Six-of-seven from the line in the final 40 seconds kept Bridge Creek at arms length as the Cats fouled to get the ball back.

M. Harding shared game high honors with Andrews of Bridge Creek with both netting 18 points. Stephen Ford added 11 and BC’s Millinger had 17 for the other two players in double figures.

The Panthers will be making up a game at Blanchard on Thursday and will find out their fate today for this weekend’s Canadian Valley Conference Shootout in Lindsay.
