In their first real district test, the Paoli Pugs passed with flying colors as the shut-out the Caddo Bruins 21-0.

In what was a defensive battle for most of the game, the Pugs got on the scoreboard first. Jesse Arthur continued his mastery of the 8-man option game as he went six yards for a first quarter touchdown on an option keeper.

The 6-0 score stood for a full quarter and a half before the Pugs struck paydirt again.

Arthur again got the call this time carrying in from 13 yards out giving the Pugs a 13-0 lead.

On Paoli’s very next possession, Jordan Bailey got the ball on the option and carried the ball in from four yards out of the touchdown and a 21-0 lead.

The defense ruled the final quarter and a half and the Pugs remain perfect with the win.

“We won the battle up front tonight,” Paoli head coach Justin Hannah said. “Coach McGough had a great plan on defense against the spread. We held their star running back to 96 total yards in the game.”

The Pugs offense put up 275 yards. It could have been more but a block in the back on a 70-yard run negated a J. Bailey touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Pugs continue the tough part of their schedule as the travel to the Fox Den Friday night to face the Foxes. They have won three straight games after losing their first two of the year, one of those to this same Caddo team, 26-14.
