State Champs

For the second straight year the Whitebead lady Chiefs were crowned the Oklahoma Rural Elementary Schools State Champ in girls track. For the second straight year the Whitebead Lady Chiefs have c aptured the Oklahoma Rural Elementary Schools (ORES) state title in girls track. This year’s meet was held in McAlester.

Winners from the meet include:

100 meter hurdles - Emily Gilley 3rd, 17.85; Katie Lance, 4th, 18.73

400 meter relay - Hannah Hodge, Gilley, Kaylie Upton and Smantha Cozart, 2nd  55.24

100 meter dash - Cozart, 5th 13.47

300 hurdles - Gilley, 4th 53.0

800 meter relay - Lance, Gilley, K. Upton, Cozart, 2nd  1:56.9

1600 meter relay - Lance, K. Upton, Amanda Upton, Hodge, 5th  4:42

High Jump - MaryBeth Balcerak, 1st 5-0, A. Upton, 4th 4-8

Shot Put - Madie Caldwell, 2nd, 33-8, Christina Coles 3rd, 31-7

Balcerak’s jump of 5-feet set a new state record in the high jump.
